  1. When It comes to bad card design in pokemon. I have to give it to sun and moon era "ocg". They swung the banhammer like no tomorrow whenever a handloop came out. There was also the unknown looping shenanigans. Also forest of giant plants was a mess of a card. Basically for anyone who isn't familiar with the format. Basically ftk via gust or burn which were made more consistent with multiple one card plus 4-7, fun

  2. Broken cards/interactions are usually the main reasons I get into a card game tbh

  4. Whew when Force of Will got Reflect/Refrain it flipped the entire game on it's head. We knew it was the beginning when they made zero drop regalia themed to popular commanders (artifacts for our MtG folks) but Reflect and it's personal zero drop regalia plus the natural ramping the game had, made a once bad card like Alice's World (TIME WALK as another reference to MtG but with stricter conditions and a high cost; literally gives you another turn) not only viable but practically the win condition. Even though I played the commander because I enjoyed it, even I got tired of having 40 minute game 1s and tying two rounds in row from playing solitaire back and forth.

  6. You want to talk about poor card design that arguably killed a game. I can think of reflect refrain in force of will. Force of will had a lot of momentum going for it until around that cards release. By the time they banned it, most people were sick of everything revolving around it and had already left.

  8. this will always happen with Yugioh, Konami knows they need to keep releasing broken, insane cards to keep people interested in the game, if they started releasing only "fair" cards all the meta babies would cry that they couldnt beat their opponents on turn 2 and have to actually let them play the game. Power creep eventually destroys all games cause it spirals out of control

  10. lol that vanguard card wouldn't be broken enough to see play in yugioh

  11. Pokèmon has an extremely unbalanced FTK deck that is super consistent because of a card called Shaymin-EX (Roaring Skies version), which allows you to draw until you have six in hand when you place it down, which is a SOFT ONCE PER TURN. Why is Pokèmon still letting this broken card run around in Tournaments? I have no idea

  12. Jace is like when your Desires gets Ashed lol

  13. Jace the mind games, best psychological card ever printed, Oko was probably the last hot topic for MTG (companion is looking to be in-line for magics continually bad play testing)
